Privacy policy

DropClenz — Privacy Policy Last updated: 8 September 2026

The Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) sets standards for how Australian businesses handle personal information. DropClenz ("DropClenz", "us", "our", "we") is a small business and, based on annual turnover, may fall under the Privacy Act's small business exemption. We've chosen to handle your personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) regardless, because it's the right way to run this business.

This policy describes how we collect, use, share, and secure the personal information you provide through our website: dropclenz.com.au

It also describes your rights to access and correct that information, and how to contact us.

We'll update this policy from time to time as our practices change. Updates will be posted on this page with a new "last updated" date.

Overview of this Policy

This policy sets out:

  • How we collect your information
  • How we use your information
  • How we share your information
  • How we secure your information
  • Your rights to access and correct your information
  • How to make a complaint

1. How We Collect Your Information

We collect personal information from you in two ways: information you give us directly, and information collected automatically when you use our website.

Direct Collection

We collect the following personal information directly from you when you place an order, contact us, or sign up to our mailing list:

  • Contact information — name, email address, delivery address, phone number
  • Billing information — processed securely through our payment provider (see below); we do not store full card details ourselves
  • Order information — products purchased, order history, order value
  • Communications — anything you send us, e.g. customer service enquiries or returns requests
  • Marketing preferences — whether you've opted in to receive emails from us

Automatic Collection

When you visit our website, we automatically collect some technical information, such as your IP address, browser type, device type, and pages viewed. This helps us understand how our site is used and fix problems.

Cookies

We use cookies — small files stored on your device — to remember your cart and preferences, and to collect general, aggregated usage statistics (e.g. how many visitors view a page). Our website platform, Shopify, sets some of these cookies automatically to enable core site functionality.

We may also use third-party analytics and advertising tools, such as Google Analytics and Meta (Facebook) Pixel, to help us understand website traffic and measure the performance of our marketing. If used, these tools may set their own cookies and collect information about your device and browsing behaviour on our site. Most browsers let you control or disable cookies through their settings; disabling them may affect how parts of our site function, such as your cart.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Fulfil and ship your order
  • Send you order and shipping confirmations
  • Respond to customer service, returns, or warranty enquiries
  • Send you marketing communications, where you've opted in
  • Improve our website and understand how customers use it
  • Meet our legal and accounting obligations

We do not sell your personal information to third parties, and we do not use it for anything beyond running and improving DropClenz.

3. How We Share Your Information

We share personal information only where necessary to run the business, or where required by law.

Service Providers

We share information with trusted providers who help us operate, including:

  • Shopify, which hosts our website and processes orders (see Shopify's own privacy policy at shopify.com/legal/privacy)
  • Payment processors, to securely process payments
  • Shipping and fulfilment providers, to deliver your order
  • Email/marketing platforms, if you've opted in to receive communications from us

These providers are only permitted to use your information to deliver the service they provide us — not for their own purposes.

Data Breach Notification

If we experience a data breach that is likely to result in serious harm to you, we'll notify you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC), in line with the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

Legal Disclosure

We may also disclose personal information where required by law (for example, in response to a subpoena), or where we believe in good faith it's necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or to investigate fraud.

Business Sale or Transfer

If DropClenz is involved in a sale, merger, or transfer of assets, we'll notify you by email or a notice on our website of any change to how your information is held or used.

4. How We Secure Your Information

We take reasonable steps to protect the personal information we hold from misuse, loss, and unauthorised access, including:

  • Restricting access to personal information to those who need it to run the business
  • Using secure, password-protected systems and reputable third-party platforms (Shopify and payment processors) that maintain their own industry-standard security measures
  • Not storing full payment card details ourselves — this is handled by our payment provider
  • Deleting or de-identifying information we no longer need

No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security. If you have any concerns, contact us using the details below.

5. Your Rights to Access and Correct Your Information

You can ask us for access to the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it if it's inaccurate. We'll respond to reasonable requests within 30 days.

To do this, contact us using the details below.

6. Making a Complaint

If you're concerned about how we've handled your personal information, contact us first so we can address it directly.

If you're not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner:
